Hey. My name is Christian Zich. Actually I’m a professor at the Deggendorf Institute of Technology. My area of expertise is marketing and sales management.
Until 2013, I also met most of the expectations one has of a professor: deepened knowledge of his field, a regularly published article on marketing and sales, many customer projects, a few research projects and a book in between.
In 2013, however, my leisure time behaviour changed drastically. I rediscovered a very old passion, Djing.
But before we proceed, let’s go back to the year 1989 briefly. It was at that time that I stumbled over house music for the very first time, spilling over from Chicago to Europe. As a former child of the disco generation, I really liked the combination of electronic music and danceable rhythm. So good that I decided to move away from the dance floor towards the turntable and DJ desk. At the end of my studies I had enough time and besides that I was used to spend the nights in clubs.
My first round was relatively stressful, because despite the announcement of the club owner “Today is Thursday, today you can’t drive anyone off the dance floor”, all of a sudden the few people were all on the dance floor. In the following hours the stress factor became less and it was a lot of fun.
But then in October 1989 my professional life at Siemens AG began and suddenly the little time I had on weekends became infinitely precious. The second nail in the coffin to my fresh DJ career was my doctorate. At that time an industrial career seemed to be the only desirable thing in my professional life. Now I think differently, but that is another story.
Until 2012 I thought about this time very often, but with the best will in the world I couldn’t imagine to DJ again. What happened this year? At my book publisher’s summer party, a very special DJ was announced by the head of Germany: the chief creative director of the advertising agency Publicis himself. That naturally made me curious. So I was really excited when I saw a gentleman of my age playing really brilliant music. Deep House, by the way.
At the end of the evening, the decision was made. If he can do it, so can I. A student helped me with the change to the new technology and so I gave – insanely excited – at a student party on 13.5.2013 my second debut, playing with a controller.
Relatively quickly, at the end of 2014, I decided to make music myself. I will make it short. On Thursday, August 4, 2018 the first mastered tracks were available on my computer. Was that a great moment. Nevertheless it took me until 06.05.2019 to finally send my first EP to LANDR.
At some point the music producer in my brain got a little brother who started drawing enthusiastically.
And now we put music, drawing, my enthusiasm for writing itself into one pot, spice it up with some creativity and we got this website. A page about audio-visual machine tales.
Accompany me on a journey with sad and serious, funny and weirdly creative, sometimes dystopian, sometimes not to be taken seriously stories and the appropriate music.
Have fun!
